Oh Maggie...

You know when a song just gets you...brings you back...makes you smile...reminds you of childhood...sweet times...Ahhhh, Maggie May by Rod Stewart does that to me every time. It reminds me of my dad, my sister, and is a throwback to my childhood.

Tonight, via DVR, I watched Paul McDonald sing Maggie May on American Idol (yes I still watch Idol, no judgement). And, I have to admit that thanks to DVR, I watched him 3...maybe 4 times. I can't get the smile off of my face. Oh, his sweet hand twirling, soft voice, sublte twang, smirky smile...it gets me everytime. I promise this isn't my wine talking. It is true, unrestrained, passionate love. Watch it. Love it. Smile.

Viva la Happy!

Lately, I've been feeling slightly blue. Maybe it's the cold weather, maybe it's the post-wedding blues, maybe it's the fact that I'm jobless, or maybe it's the fact that I'm not in school for the first time in 19 years. But yesterday over a manicure (a gift from my generous mother-in-law), I decided that I was being a bit ridiculous. If I tried to count all of my blessings, I would run out of fingers and toes in about 5 seconds. I am truly fortunate. I was inspired to grab the reins of my life and stop letting myself feel pathetic and helpless. Hence, the new start to my blog, a new etsy shop (coming in a few days), and a new outlook on life. After I wrote my first blog post last night, I started to think of what "Viva la Happy" means to me. With a little help from http://www.dictionary.com/ I'd like to share my thoughts with you.
viva
–interjection
1. an exclamation of acclaim or approval

happy
–adjective
1. delighted, pleased, or glad, as over a particular thing: to be happy to see a person.
2. characterized by or indicative of pleasure, contentment, or joy: a happy mood; a happy frame of mind.
3. favored by fortune; fortunate or lucky: a happy, fruitful land.

My interpretation:
HOORAY! I am delighted to be alive!
YIPPEE! I am glad I decided to be a teacher.
WAHOO! I am constantly pleased with my husband. (Yes I said it and I mean it. He's the best!).
YAY! I experience true and utter contentment when I am with my family.
VIVA! I am so, so, so joyful, fortunate, lucky.

Third Time's a Charm

You know the saying "the third time's a charm"? Well I have decided to apply that mantra to my pursuit of tackling the blogosphere. I have attempted to start a blog two times before and have failed miserably. I've always admired the true bloggers out there and yearned to join their ranks (with a humble and lowly rank of course) but have yet to achieve my dream. Now, I'm hoping that my third attempt will produce a jewel. So here we go. Attempt number three. Keep your fingers crossed blogosphere. Here I come.
